The Domain of Robert S. Getman, Esq.

Robert S. Getman, an honors graduate of Brooklyn Law School, has been practicing commercial litigation in New York City for over two decades. As a former Chairman of the local bar association's Trade Regulation Committee, he created and ran the nationís first Antitrust Moot Court competition, which drew the top federal antitrust enforcers as well as distinguished federal judges and antitrust lawyers every year to serve as mock Supreme Court Justices. Mr. Getman has written and contributed to antitrust and other compliance manuals, and worked to legally educate businessmen, in litigation and out. As well as counseling and publishing, he has worked on a number of antitrust litigations, e.g. helping to win at trial against the Department of Justice in a well-publicized acquisition battle involving a semiconductor fabrication equipment maker, and winning a dismissal during trial of a nationally-watched government antitrust case involving fundamental distributorship principles. Mr. Getman's areas of expertise also include products liability and securities, arbitration and mediation. He played a key role in the defense of the Bhopal, India Gas Disaster Litigation, and is an active arbitrator and mediator for the Federal Court, the N.Y. Stock Exchange and the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD). Recently, Mr. Getman has co-authored Friend of the Court ("Amicus Curiae") Briefs, submitting a brief co-authored with Amy Peikoff, Esq., lodged in the appeal of the Elian Gonzalez case, and filing a brief in the appeal of the federal and state governments' antitrust suit against Microsoft Corporation, both on behalf of an international legal group, The Association for Objective Law ("TAFOL"). He has also written Op-Ed features which have been published in a variety of business and general circulation newspapers.
